Orcheston is a small, rural parish in Wiltshire, tucked on the southern edge of the Salisbury Plain and lying close to the villages of Shrewton and Amesbury. The landscape is classic chalk downland with the archaeological scatter of prehistoric barrows and long views across the Plain, and the area sits alongside working farmland and the military training areas that characterise much of the surrounding countryside.
The parish is made up of two neighbouring settlements, Orcheston St Mary and Orcheston St George, and retains strong medieval roots in its churches and field patterns. Life here is quiet and community-focused, centred on farming and small local activities, with a feeling of history in the lanes and buildings and easy access to the wider heritage of Wiltshire.
