Savernake is a rural civil parish in Wiltshire, lying just to the south‑east of the market town of Marlborough. Its landscape is dominated by the ancient woodland of Savernake Forest, together with dispersed farms and small hamlets, giving the parish a quiet, strongly rural character.
The forest is both an ecological and historic highlight - privately held by the same family since the 16th century and designated for its veteran beech and oak pollards, diverse wildlife and archaeological earthworks and burial mounds. Local life revolves around estate management, agriculture and low‑key tourism; the parish also contains the landmark country house Tottenham House, reflecting the long continuity of landscape, heritage and community here.
