Sutton Veny is a small village in Wiltshire, set in the chalk of the Wylye valley on the banks of the River Wylye, close to the southern edge of Salisbury Plain and a few miles from Warminster. The landscape is classic chalk downland with tumuli and wide skies, and the clear chalk stream running through the village is valued by anglers and wildlife enthusiasts.
The village has a long history and a strong local community: the parish church has medieval roots and was much restored in the Victorian era, and the area bears reminders of 20th‑century military use on the Plain and a small war graves plot from the First World War. Economically it remains largely rural, with farms, a handful of local businesses and many residents who commute to nearby towns, while walkers and heritage visitors come for the scenery and quiet village life.
