Knook is a very small village and civil parish in Wiltshire, sitting on the edge of the chalk of Salisbury Plain a few miles from the market town of Warminster. The surrounding downland is scattered with prehistoric barrows and earthworks, and the little parish church and a handful of listed farmhouses give a clear sense of centuries of rural continuity.
Life in Knook is quiet and agricultural, shaped by arable and sheep farming and by the nearby military training areas that characterise much of the Plain. With only a handful of homes and a close‑knit community, it’s a place appreciated by walkers and anyone after a taste of Wiltshire’s historic countryside rather than village amenities or busy social life.
