Wylye Valley is a rural ward in Wiltshire hugging the chalk downland and the clear, spring-fed River Wylye. The landscape is classic chalk-stream country, with water meadows, rolling hills and a scattering of small villages and historic parish churches; the area also sits close to Salisbury Plain, so prehistoric earthworks and Bronze Age barrows are a frequent sight in the surrounding countryside.
Locally the economy is driven by agriculture - arable and sheep farming - alongside equestrian enterprises, small tourism businesses and a number of people who commute to Salisbury or Warminster. Community life tends to be village-centred, with active village halls, pubs and conservation groups working to protect the chalk-stream ecology and traditional built heritage.
