Upavon is a small village and civil parish in Wiltshire, sited on the banks of the River Avon in the Vale of Pewsey. It sits between the market towns of Marlborough and Devizes and lies close to the military training areas of Salisbury Plain, surrounded by characteristic chalk downland that makes the area popular for walking and riding.
The village is best known for the nearby RAF Upavon, an early military airfield established before the First World War that played a role in the development of military aviation. Today the local economy remains largely rural and agricultural, complemented by a small, active community with village amenities and a strong sense of local history shaped by both farming and the airfield’s heritage.
