Upavon is a compact rural parish on the banks of the River Avon in the Vale of Pewsey, in eastern Wiltshire, England. It sits at the edge of Salisbury Plain, so the landscape mixes fertile river valley with open downland and is popular with walkers and for grazing agriculture.
The village has a notable aviation heritage - an early military aerodrome, RAF Upavon, played a part in the development of military flying - yet traditional stone cottages and a parish church testify to a longer rural history. Today the parish remains largely agricultural with a close-knit community, local pubs and events, and the continuing influence of nearby military training areas and airfields on the local economy and character.
