Shinfield is a village and civil parish in the borough of Wokingham in Berkshire, lying a few miles south of Reading and close to the M4 corridor. Historically an agricultural area, it now functions largely as a residential and commuter community for the Thames Valley, while retaining pockets of farmland, meadows and the floodplain of the River Loddon.
The village mixes a traditional core of older buildings and parish amenities with newer housing developments and local business activity; there are active community groups, schools, pubs and sports clubs. Its combination of green spaces, local history and good transport links gives it a blend of rural character and modern convenience.
