The ward on Fife’s south coast includes Burntisland, Kinghorn and the western side of Kirkcaldy, running along the Firth of Forth with promenades, sandy beaches and the Fife Coastal Path. From Burntisland’s long beach and links and Kinghorn’s compact harbour and steep streets to the more urban seafront of western Kirkcaldy, the area offers broad views across to Edinburgh and the iconic Forth bridges and is popular for coastal walks and day visits.
There’s a strong mix of seaside tourism, commuting and local industry: Burntisland retains a maritime and shipbuilding legacy, Kirkcaldy is well known for its linoleum heritage and as the birthplace of Adam Smith, while Kinghorn keeps a village atmosphere with community events and coastal heritage. Historic harbours, civic buildings and ongoing regeneration combine to give the area a distinct local identity and a blend of working‑class roots and growing commuter links.
