Pittenweem is a compact, historic fishing village on the eastern coast of Fife in Scotland, tucked into the rocky shore of the East Neuk overlooking the Firth of Forth. The little harbour, narrow wynds and whitewashed fishermen’s cottages cluster around the site of a medieval priory, giving the village a strong sense of layered coastal history and a very picturesque character.
Fishing remains visible - creel boats landing shellfish and whitefish - but today the local economy is bolstered by tourism and a lively arts scene; Pittenweem is well known for its annual Pittenweem Arts Festival, dozens of small galleries and cafés, and a close-knit community that balances traditional maritime life with a steady flow of visitors in summer.
