St. Monans is a small, picturesque fishing village on the east coast of Fife in Scotland, tucked on the shores of the Firth of Forth and forming part of the East Neuk. Its most striking historic feature is the sea-worn 14th-century kirk set against the cliffs, and a compact old harbour framed by stone cottages and narrow lanes.
Historically built on herring and small-scale fishing, the village now blends a working harbour with tourism, holiday homes and local amenities; the Fife Coastal Path brings walkers past the shore and nearby fishing communities such as Pittenweem and Anstruther. There’s a strong community feel, a quieter pace outside the summer months, and plenty of opportunities for sailing, diving and coastal walks.
