Ardrossan is a coastal town on the eastern shore of the Firth of Clyde in North Ayrshire, Scotland. It began as a planned seaport in the late 18th century and expanded in the Victorian era, leaving a granite harbour, castle ruins and other reminders of its maritime and industrial past.
Nowadays the town is best known for ferry links to the Isle of Arran and Great Cumbrae, and its sheltered coastline supports boating, beaches and coastal walks; many locals commute to Glasgow or work in tourism and light industry, while community regeneration projects seek to revive and celebrate Ardrossan’s nautical heritage.
