Kilbirnie is a small town in North Ayrshire, Scotland, lying beside Kilbirnie Loch and the River Garnock. It expanded in the 19th and 20th centuries around iron and steel works at nearby Glengarnock, and you can still see traces of that industrial past alongside historic sites such as Kilbirnie Auld Kirk.
Today Kilbirnie is largely residential and post‑industrial, with local shops, community groups and a lively amateur football scene centred on Kilbirnie Ladeside. It remains popular for outdoor recreation around the loch and countryside, and is within easy road commuting distance of Glasgow, so many residents combine local life with work or leisure elsewhere.
