Bishopton is a small village in Renfrewshire, Scotland, sitting on the north bank of the River Clyde about ten to twelve miles west of Glasgow and close to Glasgow Airport and the town of Erskine. It combines riverside views, surrounding farmland and pockets of woodland, and is a convenient commuter base with a regular rail service into the city.
Historically the village was dominated by the vast ROF Bishopton munitions works, and that former industrial site has been redeveloped in recent years into a large housing scheme at Dargavel, bringing new shops, schools and a changing local mix. Despite rapid growth, Bishopton still retains local amenities, sports clubs and community groups, so industrial heritage and green space remain noticeable features of village life.
