Elderslie in Renfrewshire, Scotland is a small historic village just west of Paisley and close to Johnstone. It is best known for its traditional claim as the birthplace of William Wallace, remembered locally with a modest monument and ancient yew; the village centre still has a scattering of old stone cottages and a village green that hint at its rural past.
Today Elderslie is largely a residential, commuter community with good road links into Glasgow, some light commercial activity on the edges and an active community life with local shops, a primary school and groups that maintain the village’s historic and green spaces. The mix of heritage and suburban living gives it a quiet, community-focused character.
