Aberfoyle is a small village in the council area of Stirling in central Scotland, sitting at the eastern edge of the Trossachs and close to lochs such as Loch Ard. The village is surrounded by the wooded hills of Queen Elizabeth Forest Park and lies in the valley of the River Forth, giving it a compact, scenic setting that’s popular with walkers and nature lovers.
Today Aberfoyle acts as a gateway to Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park, with an economy largely driven by tourism - walking, mountain biking, wildlife watching and small hospitality businesses. Historically the area relied on forestry and wool-related trades, and local folklore and history - including associations with figures like Rob Roy - add to its cultural appeal.
