Newbridge is a small post‑industrial community in the Sirhowy Valley of Caerphilly, Wales, lying just south of Blackwood. Set along the valley floor with steep wooded slopes either side, its name reflects a historic crossing point over the local waterways; like many South Wales valley settlements it grew up around ironworks and coal mining and still shows that industrial heritage in its built landscape and street pattern.
Today Newbridge is a largely residential parish with a strong local identity: community halls, pubs and amateur sports remain important social hubs, while employment has shifted toward light industry and commuting to nearby urban centres such as Cardiff and Newport. Ongoing regeneration and conservation efforts aim to balance retaining the area’s historic character with new housing and facilities for families and older residents.
