Pontprennau is a relatively modern suburb on the north‑east edge of Cardiff in Wales, largely built from the late 20th century on former farmland. The name translates roughly as “bridge of the trees”, and the area today is characterised by family housing estates, a local retail centre and business parks that serve the commuter population.
Its setting includes several green corridors and parks that give a semi‑rural feel and it sits close to neighbours such as Old St Mellons and Lisvane. Good road links to the M4 and the city make it popular with commuters, and local schools, community facilities and occasional planning debates about further growth shape its social and economic life.
