The area on the northern edge of Cardiff in Wales combines the village feel of Lisvane with the later suburban development of Thornhill. Lisvane still shows its older roots with a conservation-minded village core, a historic parish church and wooded lanes with small reservoirs nearby, while Thornhill is largely a late 20th-century housing estate centred on schools, shops and community facilities.
Predominantly residential, the area is popular with commuters because of straightforward road and bus links into central Cardiff, but it also supports a lively local economy of small businesses, schools and community groups. The social mix of long-standing village residents and newer suburban families means there is active local engagement on matters such as green-space protection, planning and neighbourhood services.
