Lisvane is a leafy, semi-rural community on the northern edge of Cardiff in Wales, historically part of Glamorgan. It retains a village feel with large detached houses, lanes and pockets of countryside, including a small reservoir and green spaces popular with walkers and birdwatchers; the locality is well served for commuters by the Lisvane & Thornhill rail stop on the Cardiff–Rhymney line.
There’s a noticeable historic thread - the parish church has medieval roots and village buildings reflect different phases of suburban growth - and an active local life driven by community groups, a village hall and local amenities. Economically the area is largely residential and relatively affluent, with many residents working in central Cardiff while valuing the quieter, conservation-minded character of their locality.
