The Radyr ward lies in the north‑west of Cardiff, centred on the old village of Radyr and the adjacent settlement of Morganstown. It occupies a pleasant stretch of the River Taff valley and is prized for its woodland, open spaces and access to the Taff Trail, while being within easy reach of the M4 and good rail links that make it popular with commuters.
Historically a distinct village that expanded with the coming of the railway, the area now combines a village feel with suburban amenities: local shops, schools, sports clubs and an active community council stage regular events. The ward is largely residential and relatively prosperous, noted for conservation areas and a strong sense of local identity rather than heavy industry or large commercial centres.
