Glanaman is a small former mining village in Carmarthenshire, Wales, set in the Amman Valley just north of Ammanford. It occupies a hollow beside the River Aman and is surrounded by the rolling, post‑industrial hills of the South Wales coalfield, so the landscape still bears the scars and terraces of its 19th and 20th‑century mining past.
The community retains a strong Welsh‑language and chapel heritage and a notable local sporting culture, so traditional events and rugby remain important. Since the pits closed, the local economy has shifted towards commuting, small businesses and community regeneration projects, giving the village a quieter, residential feel while its industrial history remains a prominent part of local identity.
