St. Clears is a small market town in Carmarthenshire, Wales, sitting on the edge of the Taf valley and close to the estuary of the River Taf. It lies on the old coaching route of the A40 between Carmarthen and Whitland, so the town has a compact historic centre with a market square and a mix of 18th- and 19th-century buildings.
Historically a market and agricultural service hub, St. Clears retains a strong local community feel with bilingual Welsh–English culture, seasonal fairs and agricultural events contributing to the local economy alongside shops and small businesses. The town has long been affected by through-traffic and there has been a persistent local campaign for a bypass, which has become part of its modern civic story.
