Dolgarrog is a small parish and village tucked into the Conwy valley in Conwy, north Wales, sitting on the lower slopes of the hills that form the edge of Snowdonia National Park beside the River Conwy. Its dramatic setting gives easy access to upland walks, waterfalls and forest trails while also framing an industrial past - early 20th‑century hydroelectric schemes and an aluminium works shaped the local economy for decades.
The community is marked by the memory of the 1925 dam disaster, when reservoirs above the village failed and flooded the valley, and that history is reflected in local memorials and heritage interest in the old power works. Today Dolgarrog combines a quieter residential life with visitor activity linked to walking and industrial archaeology; the reservoirs in the hills above, such as Coedty and Eigiau, remain notable landscape features.
