The village and parish of Trefriw sits in the Conwy valley within Conwy county, tucked where the Afon Crafnant meets the lower slopes of the Gwydir Forest at the eastern fringe of Snowdonia. It grew as a Victorian spa settlement around local mineral springs and later benefited from wool and slate industries; a working attraction, Trefriw Woollen Mills, still draws visitors and hints at the village’s industrial past.
Today Trefriw is a small rural community reliant on tourism, farming and local services, popular with walkers heading for waterfalls, forest tracks and lakes left by former mining activity. The village retains a strong Welsh character with community events, a parish church and a mix of long‑standing families and commuters, while nearby Llanrwst and the Conwy valley keep shops and transport within easy reach.
