Rhuddlan sits on the floodplain of the River Clwyd in northern Denbighshire, Wales, close to the coast and the resort of Rhyl. Its skyline is still defined by the ruined curtain walls and towers of Rhuddlan Castle, built during Edward I’s conquest in the 13th century, and the medieval parish church of St Mary’s; the town is also associated with the 1284 Statute of Rhuddlan, an important moment in the governance of Wales.
Today Rhuddlan has a village atmosphere with agriculture across the surrounding flats, riverside walks and a modest tourism trade centred on its historic sites. Good road links such as the A55 and proximity to towns like St Asaph make it convenient for commuters, while local clubs and events sustain a close-knit community life.
