Rhuddlan is a compact riverside town in Denbighshire, in the north of Wales, sitting beside a bend in the River Clwyd. Its low-lying position near the coast means the river and estuary have long shaped the town, and it's within easy reach of coastal resorts such as Rhyl and Prestatyn, making it a quiet gateway between river walks and seaside attractions.
Historically the town is best known for Rhuddlan Castle and the 1284 Statute of Rhuddlan, which helped define English administration in Wales; the castle ruins and a surviving medieval street pattern give the centre a strong sense of past. Today the economy is modest and local, based on agriculture, small shops and tourism - visitors come for the history, riverside paths and community events that give the town a close-knit, village-like feel within North Wales.
