Morfa Bychan is a small coastal village in Gwynedd, Wales, situated just west of Porthmadog. It’s best known for the wide, car‑accessible beach at Black Rock Sands, popular with families, dog‑walkers, campers and wind‑surfers, and for its long views across the estuary and towards the mountains.
Historically a modest fishing and farming community, the village now relies largely on seasonal tourism and holiday parks; there remains a strong Welsh‑speaking presence and a relaxed, local feel. Its proximity to Snowdonia (Eryri) and heritage attractions such as the Ffestiniog Railway in Porthmadog makes it a peaceful base for exploring the region.
