Penysarn is a small village on the north‑eastern side of the Isle of Anglesey in Wales, situated close to the ochre slopes and copper spoil heaps of Parys Mountain and within easy reach of the harbour town of Amlwch. The local landscape mixes dramatic mining remains with coastal paths and farmland, giving the area a distinctive, rugged character.
It grew up as a mining settlement in the 18th–19th centuries and still reflects that industrial heritage alongside a predominantly Welsh‑speaking, close‑knit community; today the village economy blends agriculture, local services and modest tourism from walkers and geology enthusiasts. Visitors often appreciate Penysarn for its quiet village feel and direct access to one of the most unusual post‑industrial landscapes in the region.
