Llandogo is a small riverside village in Monmouthshire, Wales, tucked on the eastern bank of the River Wye within the Wye Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The settlement is characterised by whitewashed cottages and a compact village centre, with steep wooded slopes and limestone cliffs across the river leading into the Forest of Dean, making it a popular stop for walkers on the Wye Valley Walk and visitors heading to Tintern Abbey or Monmouth.
Historically Llandogo was a busy river port and boatbuilding centre in the 18th and 19th centuries, moving timber, bark for tanning and other goods, and traces of that maritime past survive in local buildings and place‑names. Today the village’s economy leans on tourism and a small local community life - visitor accommodation, a village pub and cafes - and it remains prized for its peaceful riverside scenery, abundant birdlife and strong sense of local history.
