Llangynidr is a compact village in Powys, Wales, set in the Usk valley on the southern edge of the Brecon Beacons. It takes its name from the local saint (Cynidr) and has a visibly long history in its stone buildings and the attractive old bridge that spans the River Usk. The line of the historic Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal runs through the area, reminding visitors of its past role in local trade and transport.
Traditionally agricultural with some past quarrying and canal-related activity, the village today is popular with walkers, cyclists and anglers thanks to nearby hills and waterways, while retaining a small, active community life centred on local events, the village hall and pubs. Its mix of rural scenery, easy access to outdoor recreation and a clear sense of local history make it a quiet but appealing spot for visitors and residents alike.
