Dinas Powis is a large village and suburb in the Vale of Glamorgan, Wales, perched on a low hill a few miles south‑west of Cardiff with views over the coastal plain towards the Bristol Channel. It functions largely as a commuter settlement, with a local railway station providing regular links into Cardiff and Barry, yet still keeps a compact centre of shops, pubs and community facilities.
The area has notable historic interest: the hilltop and surrounding fields produced important Iron Age and early‑medieval archaeological finds indicating a high‑status settlement in the past. Today Dinas Powis combines that heritage with a strong village identity - active sports clubs, community events and conservation-minded residents - while remaining within easy reach of the coast at Penarth and other parts of the region.
