Saltford is a riverside village in the unitary authority of Bath and North East Somerset, sitting on the banks of the River Avon roughly between Bath and Bristol. It has the feel of a prosperous commuter village with good transport links and plenty of green space: towpaths, riverside walks and a stretch of railway line that has been the subject of local campaigns to re-open a station in the village.
Locally notable are the historic industrial and domestic sites: the preserved Saltford Brass Mill, now an industrial museum and protected site, and the attractive Saltford Manor House, often cited as one of the older continuously occupied houses in the country. The village is a designated conservation area with an active community life, a few pubs and clubs and a strong local interest in environment and heritage.
