Heartlands

Heartlands is an electoral ward in the east of Birmingham, centred around a largely post‑industrial landscape and threaded by historic canal and rail corridors. The locality includes Birmingham Heartlands Hospital and mixes residential streets with light industrial estates; parts of the ward have been the focus of regeneration and community‑led redevelopment in recent years.

The area is socially and culturally diverse, with a lively high‑street scene of independent shops, eateries and places of worship alongside active neighbourhood groups. While there are ongoing economic challenges in some pockets, local initiatives around skills, small businesses and heritage projects give the ward a sense of civic energy and a strong community identity.
