Wolsingham is a small market town and civil parish in County Durham, sited in the dale of the River Wear at the edge of the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. It acts as a centre for the surrounding moorland and farmland of Weardale, popular with walkers and cyclists and notable for its scenic landscape and industrial archaeology from former lead‑mining and ironworking.
Historically a market and mining community, the town still retains a strong community feel with a busy high street, an annual agricultural show and a heritage centre; the preserved Weardale Railway and local events draw visitors, while the local economy now mixes agriculture, tourism and small‑scale manufacturing and services.
