Awliscombe is a compact village and civil parish in East Devon, set in rolling farmland about five miles north‑east of Honiton. It retains a strong sense of history in its narrow lanes, stone and cob cottages and a medieval parish church, reflecting the prosperity many Devon villages enjoyed from the wool and cloth trades; the surrounding landscape of hedged fields and wooded combes makes it popular with walkers.
Today the village has an active community life centred on a village hall, a pub and local events, while the local economy remains largely agricultural with a number of residents commuting to nearby towns such as Honiton and Exeter. Its quiet rural character and well‑preserved buildings make it a pleasant example of traditional Devon village life.
