Asselby is a small village and civil parish in the East Riding of Yorkshire, set on the flat agricultural plain close to the River Ouse and the wetland fringes of the Humber Estuary. It sits a few miles from market towns such as Howden and Goole, with a low population and a landscape much shaped by drainage, dykes and mixed arable and pasture farming.
