Hook is a small village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, England, set on low-lying agricultural land not far from the Humber Estuary and the network of rivers and drainage channels that characterise this part of the county. Historically the settlement grew out of reclaimed marshland and smallholdings, and the surrounding landscape of fields, hedgerows and reedbeds supports notable wetland birdlife.
Today Hook remains a close-knit rural community with the sort of village amenities you’d expect and a mix of farming households and commuters who travel to nearby centres such as Goole or Hull for work in ports, distribution and light industry. Local events, quiet lanes and a strong sense of place give it a distinctly rural East Yorkshire character.
