Skidby is a small village in the East Riding of Yorkshire, sitting on the rural fringe west of Hull and close to Beverley and Cottingham. It occupies a quiet agricultural landscape within easy reach of the Humber estuary and the Yorkshire coast, with roots as a farming community stretching back centuries and a broadly traditional village layout.
Its best-known attraction is Skidby Windmill and the adjoining Museum of East Riding Rural Life, a working mill and local museum with a café, shop and seasonal milling demonstrations that draw visitors. Today the village combines that rural heritage with a commuter role for nearby towns, and maintains a lively social life through its pub, village hall, school and community events.
