Hillway

Hillway is a tiny settlement on the eastern edge of the Isle of Wight, lying close to the village of Bembridge. It is best known for the small aerodrome there, often called Bembridge Airport, which serves general aviation, light aircraft maintenance and support services and has origins as an airfield with military use in the Second World War.

The locality feels more industrial than many of the island’s hamlets because of its aviation facilities, yet it sits within easy reach of dramatic east‑coast scenery around Bembridge Foreland, beaches, birdlife and quiet coastal walks. Locally the community is small and closely linked to both maritime and aviation activity, and visitors frequently combine a short stop at Hillway with exploring the nearby village amenities and shoreline.
