The neighbourhoods of Queenborough and Halfway sit on the north coast of the Isle of Sheppey in the borough of Swale, Kent, England, overlooking the tidal creeks and salt marshes of the River Medway estuary. Queenborough has a long maritime past – once a royal borough with a medieval castle and a history of shipbuilding and seafaring – while Halfway grew more as a residential link between the old town and nearby Sheerness.
Local life is shaped by small boatyards, light industry and nature conservation; nearby reserves such as Elmley Nature Reserve draw birdwatchers to the coastal habitats. The area retains a compact high street, active community groups and heritage volunteers who celebrate its nautical and maritime stories, while many residents commute into the wider Medway area for work.
