Queenborough is a small historic town on the east coast of the Isle of Sheppey, in the Borough of Swale, Kent, England. It was founded as a royal fortified port by Edward III in the 14th century - the site of the former Queenborough Castle - and later became notorious as a parliamentary "rotten borough" before the reforms of the 19th century; its position on the Swale and near the Thames Estuary has long shaped its story as a maritime gateway.
Today Queenborough is a quiet town with a marina and boatyards, light industry and many residents who commute to nearby Sittingbourne and the Medway towns. It sits close to important wildlife sites such as Elmley and Oare Marshes, and retains a compact historic centre and a close-knit community feel rooted in its seafaring and market-town past.
