The civil parish of Meltham sits in the Holme Valley within the metropolitan borough of Kirklees in England, around six miles south‑west of Huddersfield. Set against the rolling foothills of the Pennines, the area combines village streets and small hamlets with open moorland, walking country and reservoirs such as Digley Reservoir, and a distinctive cluster of former mill buildings.
Historically a centre for woollen textile manufacture, Meltham still shows its industrial Victorian heritage in converted mills and stone terraces, even as the local economy has diversified into light industry, services and commuting to nearby towns. Socially it retains a strong community feel with active clubs, countryside recreation and a local identity shaped by both its industrial past and accessible upland landscape.
