Cossington is a small village and civil parish in the borough of Charnwood, Leicestershire, England. It sits on the floodplain of the River Soar a few miles north of Leicester, close to the larger villages of Sileby and Barrow upon Soar, and has the gentle, low-lying landscape and waterways that characterise this part of the Soar valley.
Historically rural, Cossington retains a village atmosphere of stone cottages, a parish church and small-scale farming, while nearby floodplain meadows and reedbeds are valued for wildlife and birdlife. Today it functions largely as a quiet commuter and farming community with an active village life, local groups and traditional events rather than major industry.
