Rothley is a village and civil parish in the borough of Charnwood, in Leicestershire, England. It lies a few miles north of the city of Leicester, set in a semi‑rural green‑belt landscape with the small Rothley Brook running through the settlement and easy access to neighbouring woodlands in Charnwood Forest.
The village has a long history - it is noted for Rothley Temple, a former preceptory associated with the Knights Templar and Hospitallers, and retains a medieval parish church and several listed buildings. The preserved Great Central Railway runs through the parish and Rothley Station is a popular heritage attraction; today Rothley combines commuter life, local shops, pubs and active community groups, with tourism and heritage rail visitors helping the local economy.
