Markfield is a village and civil parish in the district of Hinckley and Bosworth, in Leicestershire, England. It sits on the edge of Charnwood Forest, close to Bardon Hill, so the village enjoys elevated countryside, woodland walks and a landscape shaped by local geology and quarrying.
Historically the community expanded in the 19th century with local quarrying and light industry, and the nearby Bardon Hill quarry has had a lasting economic and visual influence. Today Markfield retains a strong village feel with local shops, pubs, a primary school and sports clubs, and is popular with walkers and commuters travelling into Leicester and the surrounding towns.
