Blackfordby is a small ward and village in North West Leicestershire, in the county of Leicestershire, sitting between the market towns of Ashby-de-la-Zouch and Coalville. The area has a distinctly rural feel with pockets of farmland and mixed woodland nearby, and is convenient for walkers and cyclists with easy access to routes into the National Forest and local heritage trails; road links also give quick access to the M42/A42 corridor for commuting.
Historically the settlement grew from a farming community into a modest residential village during the 19th and 20th centuries, and today it combines historic cottages and parish-style buildings with modern housing. The ward is largely residential with a small local economy of services and trades, a close-knit community atmosphere and regular village events that reflect its rural Leicestershire character while remaining within easy reach of larger towns.
