Wallend is a small locality within the unitary authority of Medway in north Kent, forming part of the wider Medway towns conurbation. It tends to have a predominantly residential character with local shops and community facilities, and sits in the low‑lying, estuarine landscape shaped by the River Medway.
Like much of the area, Wallend’s growth reflects the region’s maritime and industrial past, and many residents commute into nearby centres such as Chatham, Rochester and Gillingham. It’s better known for its local community feel, access to green spaces and a mix of older and post‑war housing than for any major tourist attractions.
