Irchester is a village and civil parish in North Northamptonshire, England, lying on the edge of the Nene Valley a few miles east of Wellingborough and close to Rushden. Its skyline is dominated by the grassy spoil‑heaps of the former ironstone quarries, now managed as Irchester Country Park, which gives long views across the River Nene and is popular for walks and wildlife watching.
The locality has a layered history - with Roman occupation visible in archaeological finds and a strong 19th–20th century ironstone‑mining heritage - and today combines a commuter population with a lively local community. You can still see industrial archaeology around the park and spoil‑heaps, while village facilities, clubs and occasional community events reflect a settled rural character close to larger market towns.
