Irchester is a compact ward and village on the eastern edge of North Northamptonshire, lying close to the market town of Wellingborough and the floodplain of the River Nene. It combines a mainly residential feel with surrounding farmland, so many people commute into nearby towns while enjoying the quieter rural setting and easy access to walking routes and local green space.
The area has a strong industrial and archaeological heritage: former ironstone quarries have been reclaimed as parkland and there are significant Roman-era finds from the locality. Irchester Country Park preserves lakes, trails and small heritage displays that reflect both the mining past and earlier settlement, and the village itself retains an active community life centred on local groups, a primary school and traditional parish amenities.
